This course is designed for beginners and those with some experience. Who want to explore the immediacy and vibrancy of wet-on-wet oil painting. Using large brushes on larger surfaces. To create expressive works of art in one session.

What You Will Learn

Essential Techniques

Brushes: Master the use of various brushes to achieve different effects.
Colour Mixing and Application: Learn to mix colours quickly using a limited palette.
Layering and Blending: Understand how to build layers quickly and blend them seamlessly on the canvas, while the paint is still wet.

Composition and Design

Planning Your Composition: Develop skills to plan and sketch your composition effectively, even when working quickly.
Capturing Light and Shadow: Learn to depict light and shadow with immediacy, enhancing the depth of your painting.
Balancing Detail and Spontaneity: Strike the right balance between detailed elements and the free, expressive qualities of Alla Prima painting, so your paintings don’t feel laboured.

Practical Application

Still Life: Practice with still life setups to hone your observational skills and apply Alla Prima techniques to common subjects.
Landscapes: Explore natural scenes with spontaneity and freshness.
